Police release photo of Morris Avenue shooting suspect

Police have released pictures of a man who they believe is the suspect in a shooting that occurred on Morris Avenue over the weekend.

Police say the incident happened Saturday around 8:30 p.m. in front of 2693 Morris Ave., an apartment building close to East Kingsbridge Road.

According to the NYPD, the gunman tried to rob the 31-year-old victim who was walking down the street. They say the victim tried to defend himself, attempted to throw a punch and then ran away.

Police say the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the man in the back, upper thigh and forearm.

They say the suspect then ran off while the victim made his way to North Central Bronx Hospital by private transportation.

Officials say the victim is still recovering in the hospital, but is in stable condition.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
