A Bronx community came together Tuesday to mourn the loss of a mother who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect her children.

Friends and family of Jessica White said their final goodbyes to the mother who was shot and killed while trying to shield her children from stray bullets at a John Adams Houses playground on June 11.

The funeral was held at the Greater Universal Baptist Church.

Many Bronx residents, who said they did not know White personally, came to pay their respects to the 29-year-old mother.
