Teamsters picket Orange beer distributor

A group from the Teamsters Union protested at Dichello Distributors in Orange today.

Workers were outside the business on Marsh Hill Road this morning carrying signs reading that they had been locked out by management. The picket lines formed this morning after contract negotiations broke down between Dichello Distributors and Local 443 last night.

The president of Dichello Distributors says the company put forward a fair and reasonable final offer for a new contract, but unfortunately reached an impasse with the Teamsters.

The beer distributor says the union's pension fund is underfunded and is in a "critical status." The company plans to replace the fund with a 401k program and it also wants workers to start contributing to health care plans.
