Report issued on Bridgeport election problems

The mayor's election review advisory commission in Bridgeport released its final report and recommendations today in response to the ballot blunder last November when some polling locations ran out of ballots.

The report is 17 pages long and the mayor says it includes 67 recommendations.

One recommendation that the secretary of the state says she hopes the Legislature will adopt is for each municipality to report to her office how many ballots it is ordering and why.

Denise Merrill says the legislation also includes giving her office the authority to ask the city or town to order more if they see necessary.

She is also proposing each municipality have an emergency plan ready for Election Day.
