Soldier from Norwalk killed in Afghanistan
Military officials say a soldier from Norwalk was killed while fighting in Afghanistan yesterday morning.
Pfc. David Fahey, Jr., 22, died from injuries he suffered when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device in Kandahar, according to officials.
Fahey was assigned to the 170th Military Police Company, 504th Military Police Battalion, 42nd Military Police Brigade and Joint Base in Lewis-McChord, Wash.
Gov. Dannel Malloy (D-Conn.) ordered state and U.S. flags to fly at half-staff in honor of Fahey. The flags will continue to fly at half-staff until Fahey is buried.
