Stratford man accused in home invasion appears in court

A Stratford man appeared in court today on charges he allegedly broke into ex-girlfriend's home, kidnapped her and threatened to kill her.

Police say John Bajda, 29, broke into Ebony Mitchel's home on Melville Drive yesterday and hid in her bedroom closet with a kitchen knife.

Officers say when Mitchel got home, Bajda terrorized and threatened her while her three children were asleep.

Police say Bajda told Mitchel he was going to take her to a wooded area in Easton and kill her before she was able to escape.

The judge called the facts of the case both disturbing and concerning. An order of protection has also been issued to safeguard Mitchel.
