Hunt is on for suspects in Stamford bank robbery

Police are searching for two suspects who they say robbed a Stamford bank at gunpoint this morning.

According to authorities, the robbers entered the People's Bank on Shippan Avenue at around 11 a.m. and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

At first, police say they thought the suspects took hostages inside the bank when the customers refused to come out. Later it turned out that some people locked themselves inside the vault to stay safe.

Police say the robbers escaped before they had a chance to secure the area.

No shots were fired and no one was injured, according to investigators.

The two armed suspects are still on the loose.
