Historic building collapses in Bridgeport

Neighbors of a historic home on the corner of Fairfield and Clinton avenues are wondering what caused the building to collapse Saturday.

The home, which was more than 100 years old, was part of the Stratfield Historic District.

Neighbors say the owners requested to tear the building down in 2009, but were denied. Ever since, they say the building has been dismantled piece by piece nearly daily.

Officials say a building inspector will tour the property to determine the cause.
