Cheap gas draws hundreds of drivers in Norwalk
The average price of regular gasoline is $4.19 per gallon in Southwestern Connecticut, but one station drew hundreds of drivers Saturday by charging way less.
Norwalk's first 7-Eleven celebrated its grand opening today with pump prices at $2.99 per gallon for regular. The publicity stunt drew more than 1,000 drivers during the three hours the low price was available.
The line of cars stretched from Central Norwalk all the way to Wilton. At one point, police had to order a frustrated driver to pull over and cool off.
A nationwide gas-tracking website said it was the lowest price for gas in America.
