Bridgeport barber picking up the pieces after fire

A Bridgeport barber lost his business to a fire nearly a month ago, but he decided that if his clients can't come to him, he will go to them.

"I am going to people's houses, trying to take care of my clients as best as I can," says Tim Gagne.

The fire broke out inside a basement on Fairfield Avenue, displacing 13 people and leveling two businesses, including Gagne's Varsity Barber.

Two barber poles from Gagne's business now sit in his living room as reminders of everything that's been lost.

"I don't think I have ever felt a more horrible feeling than watching something you put your time and effort into for three years literally burn to the ground," he says.

Despite the tragedy, Gagne says it's a good feeling knowing the community is behind you.

A benefit will be held next Saturday for all the fire victims, including Varsity Barber and Marty's Brick Oven Pizza.
