Driver survives crash with tractor-trailer on I-95

Norwalk fire officials say a driver narrowly escaped death today after getting wedged underneath a tractor-trailer on the portion of I-95 that officials say is the busiest in the state.

Officials say at around 1:30 p.m., the back wheels of the tractor-trailer skidded to a stop right at the driver's door near exit 14.

They say the driver was conscious and alert as they used the Jaws of Life to get him out and take him to the hospital.

Department of Transportation officials say the area has become a hot spot for accidents because people are driving too fast and not paying enough attention.
