New Milford boardwalk opens after years of waiting

After years of waiting, residents were able to get out and enjoy today's nice weather by walking the new boardwalk that connects Walnut Beach to Silver Sands State Park in Milford.

City officials say they are hopeful that the boardwalk will drive up business for stores on Walnut Beach by giving locals an easier means to access the area.

Plans to build the boardwalk were approved in 2006, but design problems delayed the project's start until last February.

Mayor Jim Richetelli says there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony in the first week of May.
