Home health aide accused of stealing arraigned in Norwalk

A Bridgeport home health aide accused of stealing more than $30,000 from an elderly New Canaan man she was caring for was arraigned today.

Police say 44-year-old Betsey Arizmendi used the money she stole to buy clothes for herself and to bail her son out of jail.

Health experts say it is important to be careful when choosing a home health aide. They also say you should be sure to do background checks on anyone who might be working inside your home.

Arizmendi, who is facing credit card theft and other charges, is due back in court in two weeks.
