Stamford murder suspect charged with witness tampering

A Stamford murder suspect is being held on $300,000 bail this evening after police say he threatened to shoot a witness in the case.

Authorities have announced a series of tampering charges against Luis Jimenez, who allegedly conspired with one of the three men arrested in the murder of Denny Alcontara to stand in the way of witness testimony.

Alcontara was fatally shot in 2009 on Stillwater Avenue in Stamford.

The witness said Jimenez planned to attack his home and possibly harm him, and that an acquaintance of the witness had his home vandalized.

Police say they will continue with the case while protecting the witness.

Jiminez is set to be back in court on April 15.
