Westport bans reserved seating at fireworks

Westport officials are looking to stop people from reserving space at Compo Beach for this year's fireworks display Friday night.

Town officials say every year, people come out and put down official-looking things like yellow cones or even police tape to improperly reserve a good spot.

Their message to beachgoers this year: if you put stuff here and leave it, it will not be here when you return.

However, they say they will not be imposing fines or writing tickets.
