Bridgeport officer hurt in crash

A police officer is in the hospital today after his cruiser crashed into another car.

It happened around 3:30 this morning at the intersection of Chopsey Hill Road and Reservoir Avenue in Bridgeport.

Police say the officer was responding to a call when his car struck another car, flew into the air and then hit a tree.

The officer had to to be cut from his cruiser.

He and the other driver were taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center.
