Budget woes may put brakes on Fairfield's new Metro-North station

Fairfield commuters may not see the opening of a new Metro-North station in October as originally planned.

According to First Selectman Michael Tetreau (D-Fairfield), he has learned that the station near the Bridgeport line is between $2 million-$6 million over budget due to the testing and removal of contaminated soil.

Tetreau says the town is currently working with the state to identify additional sources of funding. He says seeking private funding is the first option, but that he will request more money at an upcoming representative town meeting.
