Greenwich considers ban on leaf blowers

A group of Greenwich residents is making a push to ban leaf blowers during the summer months, but landscapers argue that such restrictions are going too far.

The group Citizens Against Leaf Blower Mania, or CALM, has launched the campaign. Members say the noise, fumes and dust created by the machines is a hazard to people and the environment. Currently, only one gas-powered blower can be used on a property at a time during certain hours of the day.

Town leaders are expected to discuss the potential ban in late summer or early fall.
