Norwalk authorities remind public of bike safety tips

Norwalk police officials reminded residents today about bike safety after two accidents involving bicyclists this week.

Police say in one of the incidents, the bicyclist was on the wrong side of the road when the accident happened. They say the other accident happened in Wilton less than 24 hours later.

Shawn Wong, of the Community Policing Division, suggests bicyclists wear clothing that is visible and a helmet, as well as making sure the bike is operational. He also suggests bicyclists use the appropriate hand signals to alert motorists of changes in direction.

Investigators say in both cases injuries were non-life threatening.
