Police hold hostage drill at Fairfield Preparatory H.S.

Fairfield police spent the day simulating a hostage situation at Fairfield Preparatory High School.

Armed for the unexpected, teams of four moved through the hallways and classrooms as they worked different hostage situations for the annual exercise. Officers say the drill remained a strong priority despite budget cuts this year.

The high school shares a campus with Fairfield University, where a 25-year-old man carried a fake bomb into a classroom in 2002 and held 27 hostages before surrendering to police. Officials say that incident serves as a reminder to the importance of today's training.
