Residents flock to the beach for 1st day of summer

Following a long and brutal winter in southwestern Connecticut, residents flocked to area beaches today in celebration of the summer solstice.

Hundreds of beachgoers descended upon Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk to soak up the sun and play in the sand on the first official day of the summer season.

Residents say they're happy that piles of snow, slippery roadways and collapsed roofs are becoming a distant memory.
