Man accused of posing as wounded veteran for money

A Greenwich man is facing charges for allegedly swindling money while posing as a veteran in need.

Police say Jesus Garcia claimed for more than a year that he was an Army Ranger and was wounded in combat during four tours in Afghanistan.

They say they also found two financial victims of his fraud.

Garcia is charged with larceny, fraudulent use of military insignia and false representation of an armed-force uniform. He is due back in court on Friday.

Police are urging anyone who thinks they may have been swindled by Garcia to contact them at 203-622-8000.
