CL&P uses bugs to fight weeds
Connecticut Light and Power is using insects to combat a pesky plant that could wreak havoc in our area.
Crews released 1,000 little bugs called weevils that will eat the weed known as the mile a minute vine.
Officials hope the weevils will keep the vine from taking over the East Rocks sub-station in Norwalk.
The plant has invaded at least 19 towns in Connecticut.
It can grow up to six inches a day and has seeds that can remain dormant for up to seven years before suddenly sprouting later.
