Parents clash over future of Bridgeport school

? Supporters and opponents of the plan to close a Bridgeport school attended a special meeting tonight to voice their opinions about the fate of Dunbar Elementary School.

School officials want to close the school in an effort to help close the district's budget gap.

Some parents agree; however, others say they feel betrayed by the board because of its actions.

Officials say moving the students to newer, better-equipped and under-enrolled schools within the district will mean more opportunities for the students.

The plan is to use the empty classrooms left behind for alternative programs and as Board of Education office space.

A final vote on the proposal is scheduled for tomorrow.
