Poll: Gov. Malloy has 44% disapproval rating

A statewide poll released today shows Gov. Dannel Malloy's (D-Conn.) approval rating is very low.

The latest Quinnipiac University poll shows only 38 percent of voters approve of the job Malloy is doing as governor. Forty-four percent disapprove and the other 18 percent say they're not sure.

Poll Director Douglas Schwartz says Malloy's low approval rating is the result of taxes and the fact that he raised them significantly to balance the budget.

Schwartz adds that the people believe Malloy relied too much on taxes and not enough on spending cuts to close the deficit.
