Police: Senior prom photo leads to jewelry thief

Police say a recent graduate of Darien High School was busted for stealing $8,000 worth of jewelry from a classmate's parents after he was seen wearing one of the items in his senior prom picture.

The items, which belonged to 40-year-old Eddie Rocha, included several designer watches, diamond rings, gold bracelets and cell phones.

Rocha says as he was looking over his son's senior prom pictures, he came across a photo of the student wearing his $2,000 designer watch.

Police say the suspect pawned some of the jewelry in exchange for $2,000 in cash, and kept the remaining items for himself.

Authorities say he's charged with burglary and larceny, and will most likely be ordered to perform community service.

He is due in court on Friday.
