Mountain lion on the loose killed by car in Milford

State police say a woman driving in Milford this morning hit and killed a mountain lion that possibly was the same one that was spotted several times this week. According to authorities, a car heading north down the Merritt Parkway hit the animal at around 1:00 a.m. The state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) says the lion weighed 140 pounds. Auto repairman Greg Christofakis says the impact from the collision with the animal severely damaged the car, causing more than $8,000 in damages. The driver, however, was not hurt.Earlier this week, three people reported spotting a mountain lion in Greenwich, about 35 miles away. The DEP is trying to determine if the one killed in Milford is the same animal. The DEP says mountain lions aren't native to Connecticut.
