State House OKs bill to decriminalize some marijuana possession
The state House passed a bill that would decriminalize the possession of small amounts of marijuana.
It comes after the state Senate passed the same measure over the weekend.
Currently, the punishment for possession of marijuana is a misdemeanor, with possible jail time and a hefty fine. Under the bill, possession of less than half an ounce would no longer be a misdemeanor and instead would result in a $150 fine.
The bill now goes to Gov. Dannel Malloy (D-Conn.), who has said he will sign it.
