Man accused of stealing beer appears in court

Bridgeport police say they have arrested a man who sawed through the wall of a deli to steal beer.

Police say Rui Rua broke into the Red Rooster on Oak Street early Thursday morning and took a 12-pack of beer.

They say they found Rua shortly after with an open beer bottle, a chisel and a saw.

Police say his car was unregistered and he was using stolen license plates.

The owner of the Red Rooster says it will cost him $8,000 to repair the damage.

A judge set bond at $5,000 and Rua is due back in court later this month.
