Allstate sets up mobile units to help people filing for claims

In addition to cleaning up after Hurricane Irene, homeowners have begun filing for insurance claims for all the damage.

Allstate has set up mobile units throughout the state in hopes of making the process easier for homeowners. Chris Conner, an Allstate spokesman, advises homeowners to list their possessions to make filing for claims easier. He also says having video or photographs of your possessions as well as receipts can help expedite the claim.

A recent study by the Kinetic Analysis Corporation found that only about 30 percent of the Connecticut homes that suffered hurricane damage are actually covered by insurance.
