Weakened Irene passes over southwestern CT

Southwestern Connecticut is turning to a recovery effort as it appears the worst of Irene has passed.

Gov. Dannel Malloy says half the state is without electricity. Malloy warns that though heavy rain may have subsided, Connecticut could still experience high winds.

Irene had weakened to a tropical storm by the time it reached New York.
