Parkways likely to be closed because of Irene

Gov. Dannel Malloy spoke this afternoon about preparations and warnings as Hurricane Irene approaches.

He says the Merritt and Wilbur Cross will be likely shut down at midnight Saturday due to possible falling trees.

Malloy also says that anyone living in an area that has flooded before should expect flooding and leave their homes in advance.

He also warns of possible long-term power outages saying that up to 600 out-of-state crews could be brought in to help restore outages.
