Malloy declares state of emergency

Gov. Dannel Malloy has issued a state of emergency for Connecticut as Hurricane Irene approaches.

Irene battered the Bahamas yesterday.

The Category 2 storm could gain even more strength as it heads to North Carolina.

Seven states from North Carolina to Connecticut have declared states of emergency as we brace for the strongest storm to hit the East Coast in many years.
