Community comes together for ailing police officer

Some Stamford residents are coming together to help out a veteran police officer who suffers from Lou Gehrig's disease.

Sgt. Roger Petrone was diagnosed with the debilitating illness back in 2007 after serving 17 years on the Greenwich police force.

A colleague decided to make life easier for Petrone, who lost the use of his arms and legs. He set out to renovate parts of Petrone's Stamford home and found a community full of people ready to pitch in.

Some 20 volunteers are set to help out with the project this weekend.
