Former Westport resident, Motown legend Nick Ashford dies

Legendary Motown songwriter and longtime former Westport resident Nick Ashford has lost his battle with throat cancer.

Ashford and his wife Valerie Simpson formed the singing and song writing team Ashford and Simpson.

They penned hits like "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and "I'm Every Woman" for artists like Diana Ross and Chaka Kahn.

Nick Ashford was 70 years old.
