Police: Fairfield woman hit by truck while riding bike

Police are investigating after a 68-year-old woman was struck by a truck while riding her bike this afternoon.

The accident happened at the corner of Paulding Street and Rowland Road at around 4 p.m., according to investigators.

Officials say Betty Lucas remains in critical condition at Bridgeport Hospital.

Authorities say the man driving the pickup truck stopped immediately after realizing he hit something.

Police say they are looking into the possibility that the driver of the truck ran a stop sign.
