Shoppers looking to cash in on Tax-Free Week

Southwestern Connecticut shoppers say they are excited and looking forward to getting their back-to-school shopping done during the state's Tax-Free Week next week.

Retail experts say national chains have raised the price of clothing and shoes by 10 percent this year due to production costs. Until last month, clothing and shoes under $50 were tax-free in the state. Now, shoppers say they're hoping to save money and find good bargains, especially on backpacks and back-to-school clothing.

Stores are taking advantage of the anticipated larger crowds by offering big sales and extended store hours, and having extra staff on hand.
