Stratford man accused of assaulting ex-girlfriend arraigned

A Stratford man was arraigned today at Bridgeport Superior Court for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend in their home yesterday and then engaging in a three-hour standoff with police.

According to neighbors, SWAT teams barricaded Roosevelt Avenue yesterday after reports of a domestic disturbance. Robert Rylander, 50, allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend, at one point grabbing her and shoving her against a wall. When she escaped, his ex-girlfriend also told police that he had a gun and she was afraid he would use it.

Rylander was arraigned on a number of charges, including third-degree assault, breach of peace, interfering with police and making threats. He's also been ordered to stay away from his ex-girlfriend.
