Police: Domestic disturbance leads to standoff in Stratford

A Stratford man is facing charges after police say he caused the evacuation of a building and the shutdown of a neighborhood today.

Authorities say it started with a domestic disturbance call this afternoon on Roosevelt Avenue.

Investigators say Robert Rylander, 50, grabbed his former girlfriend and pushed her into a wall. The unidentified woman told police that Rylander had a gun.

Officials say the incident escalated into a standoff with police and ended with a SWAT raid and an arrest. They say the weapon was a BB rifle.

Rylander is being held on $100,000 bond and is expected to appear in court on Friday.
