FBI investigating $800K Westport art heist

A burglary in Westport is getting worldwide attention as local police and federal authorities broaden their search for two rare Chinese sculptures that they say disappeared within the last two weeks.

Police have not yet said where the sculptures, valued at $800,000 each, were stolen from Tuesday.

The 1,000-year-old sculptures are carved from sandstone, originated in China and date to the Tang Dynasty.

Police say they're among only a few such sculptures known to exist.

Police are asking anyone with information in the case to call Westport detectives at 203-341-6080.
