Metro-North train plows into car in Darien
Police say a 92-year-old man was hurt today after a Metro-North train plowed into his car in Darien.
According to investigators, the elderly man began crossing the railroad tracks near the intersection of Hoyt and Camp streets. They say it appears he tried to reverse off the tracks when the gates came down, but couldn't get out of the way in time.
Officials say the man was taken to the hospital with an injured shoulder and will not face charges.
Transit officials say there were 48 passengers on the train, but no injuries were reported. Metro-North service on the New Canaan line was temporarily suspended while crews cleared the scene.
