NY woman killed in accident on I-95 just over CT border

Officials say a New York woman was killed this afternoon after a tire struck the car she was driving in on Interstate 95 northbound in Port Chester, NY, just south of the Connecticut border.

Police say an 18-wheel tractor-trailer lost two wheels while heading southbound on the interstate, which then crossed into the northbound lane, striking the car.

Officials identified the deceased driver as 62-year-old Adele Mancuso. A second person, 82-year-old Constance Casalino, survived and is reportedly in stable condition at Stamford Hospital.

Investigators say they tracked down the truck in New Jersey and believe the driver may not have been aware that the wheels became detached from the truck.
