Norwalk DMV now offering limited services

The state's Department of Motor Vehicles has eliminated numerous services at its Norwalk branch in a cost-cutting move, and some drivers have reported waiting as long as four hours at the branch in Bridgeport.

Services no longer offered at the Norwalk office include getting new licenses, transferring out-of-state licenses and taking road or eye exams. Many people showed up in Norwalk, not realizing the services aren't available there anymore.

State Sen. Toni Boucher (R-Wilton) says she wants the Legislature's Transportation Committee to review the cuts to make sure they are efficient and saving the state money. A DMV spokesperson acknowledged the long delays at the Bridgeport office and said it is working with employees there to decrease the long wait times.
