Two called heroes after boat rescue

Two men are being called heroes today after saving a man from a burning yacht off the coast of Westport.

It happened Saturday night between Compo Beach and Cockenoe Island after the captain dropped six people off at shore.

Westport Police Captain Sam Arciola says he and his friend Don Saunders of Norwalk were out fishing when they saw the yacht on fire.

He says they managed to get the captain into their boat moments before it became engulfed in flames.

Police say a private company is expected to pull the yacht from the Sound this week and look into the cause of the blaze.
