Bridgeport police seek suspect in fatal hit-and-run

Police in Bridgeport say they're trying to track down a suspect who drove off after fatally hitting a man, then ditched the car and fled on foot.

Police say it happened on Pine Street near Wordin Avenue just before 1 p.m. They say the victim pulled off I-95 after experiencing car trouble and was hit after he had gotten out to inspect his car.

Investigators say the suspect drove off from the scene in a black Lexus and struck several other cars while attempting to evade police. The suspect crossed the city and eventually ditched the Lexus near Connecticut Avenue and Waterman Street, fleeing on foot.

Authorities say the Lexus was traced to an address in Bridgeport. Police have not released the name of the victim or of any suspects.

Police are asking anyone with information to call them at 203-581-5100.
