Fairfield homes swamped by heavy rains, high tide

Residents along the coast in Fairfield spent the day preparing their homes against flooding caused by heavy rains and high tide.

As soon as high tide rolled in today, residents say it only took a few minutes before roads turned into streams.

Fairfield's Deputy Fire Chief Arthur Reid says the tides have been unusually high over the past few days. He says the tides pushed water in from Long Island Sound to Pine Creek, then flooded houses along Fairfield Beach Road from behind.
