Man hit, killed by Metro-North train near Waterbury
Officials say a Naugatuck man was killed today after he stepped in front of a Metro-North train on the Waterbury branch.
Metro-North officials say a Bridgeport-bound train struck the man between the Waterbury and Naugatuck stations just after 5 a.m.
The railroad says the victim apparently committed suicide by stepping in front of the train.
The fatality comes less than 24 hours after an accident that destroyed a car and sent an 80-year-old Greenwich woman to the hospital. Officials say Theresa Apruzzese suffered cuts and bruises and is in fair condition at Stamford Hospital.
