Local postal workers rally to prevent layoffs

Postal workers from across southwestern Connecticut rallied at Bridgeport's McLevy Green yesterday in support of a bill that's going before Congress.

Workers say the bill will help keep mail delivery at six days a week and eliminate lay-offs and post office closings.

A postal spokesperson says money has been wrongly allocated by government officials and this bill should help set things straight.

A spokesperson at the rally says if the bill doesn't pass, the postal service could lay off as many as 200,000 workers.
