Bridgeport man arraigned in fatal stabbing

The mother of a man allegedly stabbed to death by his best friend spoke exclusively to News 12 Connecticut as the suspect was arraigned in court today.

Police say Bjorn Williams, 23, got into a fight yesterday with Travis Brown, 24, at the corner of Newfield Avenue and Adams Street.

They say Williams stabbed Brown once in the chest and Brown collapsed onto the sidewalk.

The victim's mother, Beverly Vasquez, of Bridgeport, says, "I don't hate him - I mean you took my son away from me. I don't hate you, but I would rather have nothing to do with you."

Vasquez refused to come to court today, but other family members did show up. Vasquez says seeing the suspect in court would be too difficult.
