Fairfield home invasion sparks increased police patrols

Police say they're increasing patrols around Park Avenue following a home invasion on Tuesday.

The home invasion happened at around 10:30 p.m. The residence was occupied by an elderly couple in their 80s.

Police say three or four men wearing masks that resembled Halloween costumes forced their way into the home while the couple was inside.

They say the suspects attacked the husband and wife and displayed a gun before getting away with cash and jewelry.

Police believe the victims were specifically targeted, but say they don't know why. The couple was not seriously hurt.

Residents are being urged to call Fairfield police at 203-254-4800 with any information regarding the case.
